LaGuardia airport reported 4.2 inches. Cocorahs reported 3.9 inches at 0.3 SE Little Neck. A trained spotter reported 4.5 inches in Jackson Heights, 3.7 inches at 1 NNE Elmhurst, 3.5 inches at 2 S Elmhurst, and 3.9 inches at 1 SW Russell Gardens.

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. Advisory to Warning level snow fell across Southeastern New York.
