Cocorahs observers reported 3.5 inches at 1.4 SSE Hicksville and 2.9 inches at Herricks. Amateur radio reported 3.1 inches in Carle Place. A trained spotter reported 4.6 inches at 1 N Syosset. The public reported 4.0 inches at 1 N Centre Island.

Wider weather episode

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. Advisory to Warning level snow fell across Southeastern New York.
