The Ambient Weather Station named Hendricks_1420_Road25 which is located 4 WNW Bird City recorded the 65 mph wind gust; the same site also recorded a 63, 60 and 58 mph gust. The WeatherUnderground site named KKSSAINT20 located in St. Francis recorded wind gusts of 62 mph on three occasions. The Kansas Mesonet site located 10 S St Francis recorded wind gusts of 59 and 60 mph.

Wider weather episode

Numerous wind gusts ranging from 58-81 mph occurred across northwest Kansas. The strongest wind gust of 81 mph was located 10 NE Wallace in Logan county. Zero visibility in blowing dust was also reported 3 NE Seguin in Sheridan county which led to the closure of Highway 24.
