The Kansas Mesonet site named Gove5SE recorded a 60 mph wind gust. A KDOT weather site named K5OK7 I70 recorded wind gusts of 59 mph on two occasions. An Ambient Weather site located 10 S Gove also recorded a 57 mph gust.
Wider weather episode
Numerous wind gusts ranging from 58-81 mph occurred across northwest Kansas. The strongest wind gust of 81 mph was located 10 NE Wallace in Logan county. Zero visibility in blowing dust was also reported 3 NE Seguin in Sheridan county which led to the closure of Highway 24.
