Two separate weather stations located 8 N Marienthal (Ambient Weather site named 8MileN and WeatherUnderground site named KKSLEOTI31) recorded 65 mph wind gusts. The Ambient weather site also recorded a 58 mph gust before the 65 mph gust. The Kansas Mesonet site named Leoti also recorded a 58 mph wind gust.

Wider weather episode

Numerous wind gusts ranging from 58-81 mph occurred across northwest Kansas. The strongest wind gust of 81 mph was located 10 NE Wallace in Logan county. Zero visibility in blowing dust was also reported 3 NE Seguin in Sheridan county which led to the closure of Highway 24.
