Winter Weather in Dickinson, Iowa

Snowfall totaled 5.1 inches 3 miles south-southeast of Lake Park, 4.9 inches 4 miles northwest of Milford, 3.9 inches at Milford, and 3.3 inches at Spirit Lake.

The first snow of the season occurred November 8 as a clipper system interacted with a polar cold-air intrusion across the Northern Plains. Light snow first developed during the early morning hours and continued into the early afternoon. A broad swath of snow from 3-5 inches fell from near Mitchell to Sioux Falls to Spencer. Relatively warm ground temperatures limited accumulations on area roadways with most major arteries clear by the afternoon.
