Event narrative
A few WYDOT observation sites reported strong wind gusts, which redeveloped after the event on December 26th. The most persistent was the WYDOT Elk Mountain site, along Interstate 80, which measured a peak gust of 62 MPH.
Wider weather episode
Brief and inconsistent gusty winds increased again just before midnight late Christmas Evening as mountain wave activity increased near the Laramie Range.
