2025-12-29 · Huron, Michigan
Wider weather episode
A powerful low-pressure system brought windy conditions to Southeast Michigan, with peak wind gusts ranging from 45'55 mph. Isolated gusts reaching or exceeding 60 mph were also observed. Notable peak reports included: 60 mph in Port Hope (Huron County) at 5:14 PM; 59 mph in Pontiac (Oakland County) at 12:14 PM; 56 mph in Saginaw (Saginaw County) at 3:59 PM; 55 mph at Flint Bishop Airport (Genesee County) at 2:36 PM; and 54 mph at Detroit Metro Airport (Wayne County) at 7:20 AM. Fortunately, peak power outages remained under 20,000 customers; the lack of leaves on the trees helped limit overall tree damage. In addition to the high winds, localized snow squalls developed, which caused travel difficulities and disruptions.
