Winter Weather — Gibson, Indiana
2025-11-10 · Gibson, Indiana
Wider weather episode
A cold front moved through the region the prior day with a polar air mass, causing temperatures to plummet below freezing that night. A weak mid-level low that moved through the following morning on the 10th then brought light snow showers. A quick half to one inch of snowfall was observed on cold and elevated surfaces, with variable pavement accumulation. Due to temperatures in the upper 20s, the snow caused slick spots on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses that resulted in multiple slide offs and accidents. I-64 was shut down for nearly 2 hours and backed up traffic for 5 miles while the Lloyd Expressway and highway 41 only experienced slowed traffic. In total, first responders responded to 6 crashes and 2 slide offs that caused only minor injuries and damage to personal property near Evansville, IN.
