Event narrative

Lake effect snowfall of 3 to 6 inches were reported across the county. The heaviest snowfall was in the far eastern and southern parts of the county. A high report of 7 inches was recorded near Butternut.

Wider weather episode

Lake-effect snowfall begin during the afternoon of the 8th and continued into the 10th when high pressure arrived and brought drier air and less favorable winds into the region, ending the event. Iron County received the most snowfall in this event with 9 to 12 inches of accumulation across the Penokee Range and 4 to 8 inches elsewhere. Ashland and Price counties saw lesser amounts with parts of those counties not receiving any snowfall.
