Event narrative
Light snow fell across Southern Clinton County on the morning of December 2, with most of the area seeing 1 to 2 inches of snow. This snowfall created hazardous travel conditions along Interstate 80, and an accident involving a tractor trailer was reported near Exit 178. This resulted in a closure of the eastbound side of the interstate which lasted for approximately 5 hours.

Surface trough across the Mid-Atlantic continue to progress northeastward during the late evening hours of December 1st and lifting into central Pennsylvania during the early morning hours of December 2nd. Initial moisture was very limited, which allowed for snowfall to hold off and begin during the early morning hours of December 2nd, continuing into the afternoon hours before the trough and better moisture returns moved northeast of the area. As the first widespread snowfall of the season, multiple accidents were reported across central Pennsylvania, closing multiple high-speed roadways for over four hours. No injuries were reported despite the accidents.
