Winter Weather in Perry, Pennsylvania

Light snow fell across Perry County on the morning of December 2. An accident involving a tractor trailer led to the closure of the eastbound side of US 22/322 near mile marker 222, which resulted in a mile long trapped queue. The road was closed for approximately 8 hours.

Surface trough across the Mid-Atlantic continue to progress northeastward during the late evening hours of December 1st and lifting into central Pennsylvania during the early morning hours of December 2nd. Initial moisture was very limited, which allowed for snowfall to hold off and begin during the early morning hours of December 2nd, continuing into the afternoon hours before the trough and better moisture returns moved northeast of the area. As the first widespread snowfall of the season, multiple accidents were reported across central Pennsylvania, closing multiple high-speed roadways for over four hours. No injuries were reported despite the accidents.
