Dense Fog — Southeast Utah, Utah
2025-11-24 · Southeast Utah, Utah
Event narrative
Areas of dense fog developed near the Abajo mountains throughout the night of November 23-24. The KBDG AWOS at the Blanding Municipal Airport reported multiple hours of 1/4-mile visibility due to fog and freezing fog early on the morning of the 24th. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough brought rain and snowfall to the Abajo mountains and surrounding areas on November 23. Overnight, the trough moved out of the region. A weak pressure gradient made for calmer winds, and a drying mid-level atmosphere cleared skies. With the recent precipitation though, low-level moisture remained pooled over southeastern Utah leading to the development of patchy dense fog.
