Dense Fog — Southeast Utah, Utah
2025-11-24 · Southeast Utah, Utah
Event narrative
Localized dense fog developed near the Abajo mountains early in the night of November 24. The KBDG AWOS at the Blanding Municipal Airport reported about one hour of 1/4-mile visibility due to fog just after sunset. The low-level pool of moisture supporting fog development dried up quickly after, limiting the fog's duration and potential impacts from reduced visibility. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
A drier mid-level atmosphere set up across the region on the afternoon of November 24 behind a departing shortwave trough. Strong pools of low-level moisture remained over portions of southeastern Utah though due to prior rainfall on November 23. As a result, the environment here remained saturated for most of the day, eventually prompting very brief and localized dense fog just after sunset before the low-level pool of moisture dried out overnight.
