Winter Weather — Haywood, North Carolina

2025-11-10 to 2025-11-11 · Haywood, North Carolina

Wider weather episode

An early season arctic front swept through the southern Appalachians late on the 9th, with snow levels falling quickly in the front's wake throughout the early morning of the 10th. The cold air interacted with moisture banked against the western slopes in northwest upslope flow to produce numerous snow showers that moved across mainly the Tennessee border counties throughout the 10th into the early morning of the 11th, resulting in the first notable snowfall of the season. Accumulations below about 3500 feet were generally in the 1-3 range, with some higher amounts along the Tennessee border. The higher elevations along the state line saw 5-10 with locally higher amounts of a foot or more on the high peaks.
