Wind Gust was measured at the Ocracoke WeatherFlow Station in the Pamlico Sound as thunderstorms were moving through the area.

Wider weather episode

A warm front lifted north across the waters of Eastern North Carolina during the afternoon hours of December 18th. Then as we got into the overnight hours between December 18th and 19th a coastal trough developed near the Outer Banks out ahead of an incoming cold front which was located to the west in central North Carolina at the time. Widespread showers and thunderstorms developing along this coastal trough. Some widely scattered thunderstorms become strong in nature bringing strong wind gusts to the coastal waters of the Core Banks, the offshore waters between Cape Lookout and Oregon Inlet, and portions of the Pamlico Sound.
