Event narrative
Between 4 to 6 inches of snow fell across the county with the highest amounts occurring in the northeastern region of the county. A CoCoRaHS observer measured, 5.2 inches 2 miles SW of Long Prairie and 4.5 inches 2 miles SE of Osakis.
Wider weather episode
A potent clipper system moved across Minnesota on December 9th, 2025. Areas across southwestern MN observed a mix of rain, freezing rain which eventually transitioned over to all snow. However, a tight transition zone between precipitation types set up along the I-94 corridor where 3 to 5 inches of snow fell. Areas north of I-94, observed heavy snow accumulations between six to eight inches.
