PennDOT sensor Route 8 at Route 308 measured 0.19 mile visibility in a snow squall.

Wider weather episode

The second of two cold front passages resulted in convective snow shower development in the afternoon hours. Convergence along the boundary was strongest north of Pittsburgh coincident with where impactful snow squalls developed. Numerous reports from ASOS and Department of Highways sensors measured visibility of a quarter mile or less with quick accumulation on surfaces.
