Event narrative
Between 4 to 7 inches of snow fell across the county. The highest amounts fell across the northeastern region of the county. CoCoRaHS observers measured 6.7 inches of snow 1.5 miles NNW of South Haven and 6 inches in Dayton. Additionally, the AWOS station at Buffalo Airport reported poor visibility of one-half mile due to falling snow.
Wider weather episode
A potent clipper system moved across Minnesota on December 9th, 2025. Areas across southwestern MN observed a mix of rain, freezing rain which eventually transitioned over to all snow. However, a tight transition zone between precipitation types set up along the I-94 corridor where 3 to 5 inches of snow fell. Areas north of I-94, observed heavy snow accumulations between six to eight inches.
