Event narrative

Between 4 to 7 inches of snow fell across the county. CoCoRaHS observers measured 6.2 inches 3 miles NW of Turtle Lake and 5.5 inches 1 mile NNE of Osceola. Additionally, the AWOS station located at the Osceola Airport recorded visibility of one quarter mile due to falling snow which caused slippery conditions and hazardous travel conditions.

Wider weather episode

A potent clipper system moved across Minnesota and Wisconsin on December 9th, 2025. Areas across western Wisconsin observed several hours of snow beginning in the mid-afternoon and persisting through much of the evening. Snow accumulations ranged from 4 to 8 inches of snow. Snowfall rates did become heavier at times, causing reduced visibilities, slippery roads, and hazardous driving conditions.

A few of the highest snowfall observations were:

8.3 inches 6.5 miles NW of Menomonie (Dunn)

7.5 inches 6 miles SW of Haugen (Barron)

7.1 inches 4.4 miles WSW of Knapp (St. Croix)

6.2 inches 3 miles NW of Turtle Lake (Polk)

5.9 inches in Eau Claire (Eau Claire).
