Snowfall began at the Coal Creek SNOTEL (CLCA2) during the early afternoon of November 21st and continued through midday on November 22nd. The 24 hour snowfall total was 8 inches with 5 inches of that snowfall occurring in the first 6 hours of the event.
Wider weather episode
A broad and cold trough tracked over Interior Alaska from the Bering and lingered over the region for several days. As several upper lows rotated through the trough, one that entered the eastern Interior from the Yukon managed to bring a fair amount of moisture with it resulting in a couple of days of steady and sometimes heavy snowfall across Alaska's interior.
