COOP Observer snowfall reports ranged from 12.4 inches in Belle Plaine to 14.5 inches in Vinton. Trained spotter reports ranged from 9.0 inches in Watkins to 11.5 inches 1 mile southwest of Vinton.

Wider weather episode

A long duration winter storm tracked across the region Friday night through late Saturday night. There are widespread snowfall reports of 7 to 14 inches with the heaviest snow falling along and north of Interstate 80. Northwest winds gusting between 40 to 50 mph developed Saturday night across the area as snow was coming to an end.
