Various mesonet and Oregon Department of Transportation stations as well as the ASOS at the Dalles Municipal Airport reported sub-freezing temperatures for several hours between 2am and 8am.

Wider weather episode

Clearing skies and high pressure overhead allowed for radiative cooling processes to take over and cool the eastern Columbia River Gorge to below freezing across much of the zone.
