What the National Weather Service wrote
The 7am morning COOP from Haines Customs on the 20th had a snowfall measurement of 8.3 inches. The observer noted that snow had changed to rain overnight. Similarly, the morning 511 report for the Highway estimated that up to 6 inches of snow was on the road while already mixed with rain. The SNOTEL site on Flower Mountain measured snowfall between the hours of 8am and 11pm on the 19th with a total of 8 inches, 6 inches of that having accumulated by 5pm.
The wider storm
On Tuesday night November 18th, a strong low moved along the Panhandle coast carrying plentiful moisture with it. This brought snow to the upper portions of the Haines and Klondike Highways on the 19th and into the 20th while temperatures hovered around the freezing point. Meanwhile, portions of Prince of Wales Island saw a period of high winds on the 19th.
