Strong winds and periods of snow caused significant blowing snow across much of northern Illinois from early morning through early afternoon on December 29th. Visibilities were frequently under one mile, especially in rural areas. Winds were frequently gusting between 40 mph and 50 mph with higher peak gusts, including a gust to 60 mph at the Sugar Grove Airport.
