SNOW SQUALL. A snow squall moved across McKean County on the morning of January 11, 2026. The ASOS at the Bradford Regional Airport reported a visibility of one quarter of a mile in heavy snow as the squall moved through. A car accident was also reported at the intersection of US 6 and Pennsylvania Route 155 during the squall.
Wider weather episode
A secondary cold front from an associated upper-level low pressure system tracking from the Ohio Valley allowed for snow shower development during the morning hours of January 11th. Clear skies with cold advection aloft allowed for meager, but sufficient, instability across the western half of Pennsylvania in an environment of ample lift and moisture to produce snow squalls. These snow squalls produced multiple instances of visibility below one-quarter of a mile, with multiple accidents with one reported on US Route 6 in McKean County and another accident on US Route 322 near Port Matilda. No injuries were reported from these accidents.
