Winter Weather in Clearfield, Pennsylvania

Winter Weather January 11, 2026 · Clearfield, Pennsylvania

What the National Weather Service wrote

SNOW SQUALL. The PennDOT RWIS station on Interstate 80 at Exit 111 recorded a visibility of less than one quarter of a mile as a snow squall moved through. Webcams near the sensor showed snow accumulating on the roadway.

The wider storm

A secondary cold front from an associated upper-level low pressure system tracking from the Ohio Valley allowed for snow shower development during the morning hours of January 11th. Clear skies with cold advection aloft allowed for meager, but sufficient, instability across the western half of Pennsylvania in an environment of ample lift and moisture to produce snow squalls. These snow squalls produced multiple instances of visibility below one-quarter of a mile, with multiple accidents with one reported on US Route 6 in McKean County and another accident on US Route 322 near Port Matilda. No injuries were reported from these accidents.
