Wider weather episode
A secondary cold front from an associated upper-level low pressure system tracking from the Ohio Valley allowed for snow shower development during the morning hours of January 11th. Clear skies with cold advection aloft allowed for meager, but sufficient, instability across the western half of Pennsylvania in an environment of ample lift and moisture to produce snow squalls. These snow squalls produced multiple instances of visibility below one-quarter of a mile, with multiple accidents with one reported on US Route 6 in McKean County and another accident on US Route 322 near Port Matilda. No injuries were reported from these accidents.
