Trained spotters reported 13.7 inches in North Haven and 12.0 inches in West Haven. A cooperative observer reported 11.0 inches in Guilford. The public reported 13.0 inches at 1 W North Branford and 12.0 inches in Madison. Estimated average snowfall amounts for the zone were around 12 inches.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Southern Connecticut, with sleet, some of it heavy across a portion of the region.
