Cocorahs observers reported 12.0 inches at Higganum and 15.0 inches at 1.4 W Middlefield. A trained spotter reported 13.0 inches at 3 WNW Cromwell. Amateur radio reported 11.0 inches in Durham. Average snowfall for the zone was estimated to be around 12 inches.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Southern Connecticut, with sleet, some of it heavy across a portion of the region.
