Cocorahs observers reported 12.0 inches in Wayne and 11.0 inches in Hawthorne. The public reported 11.0 inches in West Paterson and 14.0 inches at 1 NE Wayne. Average snowfall across the zone was estimated to be over a foot.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Northeastern New Jersey, with sleet, some of it heavy across a large portion of the region.
