A Cocorahs observer reported 8.5 inches in New Providence. The public reported 10.0 inches at 1 SSW Westfield. Average snowfall across the zone was just below 10 inches before the sleet arrived. Average snowfall estimated to be just above 10 inches across the zone with additional sleet.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Northeastern New Jersey, with sleet, some of it heavy across a large portion of the region.
