A trained spotter reported 9.5 inches in Hoboken. A cooperative observer reported 9.0 inches in Harrison. The public reported 12.0 inches in Secaucus. Average snowfall amounts across the zone came in under 10 inches.
Wider weather episode
A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Northeastern New Jersey, with sleet, some of it heavy across a large portion of the region.
