Trained spotters reported 18.0 inches at 1 WNW Monroe, 16.0 inches in Monroe, 13.7 inches at 3 NNW Warwick, 13.0 inches at 1 NNE New Windsor, and 13.0 inches in Salisbury Mills. Fire department and rescue reported 15.1 inches at 1 SSW Middletown. The pubic reported 17.5 inches at 1 SW Greenwood Lake and 15.8 inches at 2 E Highland Mills. Cocorahs reported 17.2 inches at 4 SSE Chester. Average snowfall amounts across the zone were estimated great than 1 foot, with isloated totals of 17 and 18 inches.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Southeastern New York, with sleet, some of it heavy across a large portion of the region.
