Trained spotters reported 10.5 inches in Mamaroneck, 10.2 inches at 1 WSW Mount Vernon, 9.0 inches at 1 NW New Rochelle (before the snow and sleet ended), 12.5 inches in Hartsdale, and 15.0 inches in Dobbs Ferry. The public reported 10.0 inches at 2 ESE Eastchester, and 12.0 inches in Tuckahoe. The average snowfall across the zone was estimated to be near and just under 12 inches.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system emerged out of the Southern Plains and Texas and rode northeast through the Tennessee Valley and the Appalachians, before emerging just off the New Jersey coast. This produced a heavy snowfall across all of Southeastern New York, with sleet, some of it heavy across a large portion of the region.
