Lack of rainfall during January combined with multiple freeze events resulted in worsening drought conditions into Extreme (D3) drought by the end of January.

Wider weather episode

Limited rainfall during this period led to further worsening of drought conditions. In addition, recent hard freeze events have dried available fuels, resulting in an increasing wildfire risk throughout our area.
