Event narrative

No change was noted in drought conditions as the western half of the zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought and the east in Severe(D2) drought. The Cooperative Observer at Cliff reported 0.19 inches of precipitation which was 1.16 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

December was a very dry month across southern New Mexico but there was no change to drought categories during the month.
