At 66 mph peak wind gust was measured at Mesonet station ODT76, Astoria-Megler Bridge with gusts above or near warning criteria 1130 Nov 5th to 1500 Nov 6th. The ASOS KAST also measured a peak gust of 60 mph at 1345 Nov 6th.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system supported by a negatively tilted upper-level trough drove a cold-frontal boundary through the region supporting a period of high winds. Directly behind this frontal boundary a weakly unstable but highly sheared atmospheric environment lead to thunderstorms, one of which was severe.
