A 79 mph peak wind gust was measured at Mesonet site GARO3, Garibaldi, at 1415 Nov 6th. Wind gusts were at or near warning level criteria 0900 Nov 5th to 1500 Nov 6th. The Mesonet site AT297 Pacific City also measured a peak gust of 61 mph 1355 Nov 6th.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system supported by a negatively tilted upper-level trough drove a cold-frontal boundary through the region supporting a period of high winds. Directly behind this frontal boundary a weakly unstable but highly sheared atmospheric environment lead to thunderstorms, one of which was severe.
