At the Rockhouse 1 RAWS, a 84 mph peak wind gust was measure at 1712 Nov 5th with gusts near or above warning level criteria 1400 Nov 5th to 1900 Nov 5th.
Wider weather episode
A strong low pressure system supported by a negatively tilted upper-level trough drove a cold-frontal boundary through the region supporting a period of high winds. Directly behind this frontal boundary a weakly unstable but highly sheared atmospheric environment lead to thunderstorms, one of which was severe.
