Event narrative

A tree was blown down, blocking both lanes of traffic on Marley Road near Hall Road in Robbins.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front advanced through the region during the early morning hours of the 19 December. A large area of light to moderate rain moved into central North Carolina during the evening of the 18 December. This rain moved out during the overnight hours. As the cold front advanced eastward, a narrow line of storms tracked east from the Piedmont and Triad into the Triangle and northern Coastal Plain, before clearing out during the mid-morning hours. Several trees and powerlines were reported down across Randolph, Stanly, Chatham, Moore, Alamance, Orange, and Wake Counties. One tree fell through a roof of a home, but no injuries were reported.
