Heavy snowfall of up to 4 inches occurred in Trimble County.

An upper level trough and potent mid-level vorticity maximum rotated over the Ohio Valley December 1-2, 2025. The deep mid-level trough helped increase lower level southwesterly winds and moisture advection into central Kentucky. Deep moisture and marginal temperature profiles led to the development of moderate to heavy mixed precipitation. Rain, sleet, and snow set up over central Kentucky late on December 1, before precipitation gradually changed over to all snow from west to east during the early morning hours of December 2, 2025. Robust mid-level frontogenesis led to the development of heavier mesoscale snow bands, including brief heavier sleet in some locations. In the end, a swath of heavy snow totaling 4-5 inches fell from the Louisville Metro northeast into Northern Kentucky.
