Event narrative
Snowfall across county was in excess of a foot in many places. A high report of 17 inches was received from the Saxon area. Near-blizzard conditions were also reported at times during the event.
Wider weather episode
An area of low pressure moved from eastern Kansas to northern Lake Huron the 28th into the 29th and deepened as it moved to the northeast. An area of heavy snowfall spread across mainly northwestern Wisconsin starting around midday on the 28th and continuing into the evening of the 28th and early morning hours of the 29th. Snowfall totals of 6 to 9 inches were reported across the region with higher pockets to 10-11 inches in a few spots. Gusty winds also led to near-blizzard conditions at times near Lake Superior east of Ashland.
