Montana mesonet station Mission Lake S measured an hour of sustained winds averaging 42 mph and observed a peak gust of 62 mph.
Wider weather episode
Marginal, yet sufficient mid level flow was translated tot he surface via mountain wave activity and assisted by a respectable pressure gradient to result in brief strong winds near the Rocky Mountain Front during the evening December 28.
