Event narrative

Snow Squall. Visibilities quickly dropped to around 1/4 mile or less as the squall passed through the Iron Range along US 169 and US 53 in central St. Louis County as viewed by MnDOT traffic cameras.

Wider weather episode

Snow squalls developed during the midday hours of the 18th on the backside of a departing low pressure system. The strongest squalls were located along the Iron Range and into the Arrowhead where traffic cameras showed quick drops in visibilities and rapidly accumulating snowfall on roadways.
