Winter Weather in Blue Earth, Minnesota
Winter Weather December 22, 2025 · Blue Earth, Minnesota
What the National Weather Service wrote
The AWOS at Mankato Regional Airport reported an hour of light rain, however it froze on contact with the ground. A CoCoRaHS observer reported that the ground was solid ice.
The wider storm
A small band of primarily freezing rain and sleet developed across southwestern Minnesota then tracked east across central and eastern Minnesota. The band of precipitation produced an hour or two of a light wintry mix resulting in minor ice and sleet accumulation before changing into all snow. As a result of the freezing rain, slick travel conditions existed during the morning commute. Travel advisories were issued by MnDOT for portions of south-central MN due to slippery roads.
