Event narrative

A CoCoRaHS observer located 2 miles SW of Ellsworth that early morning sleet/snow and light drizzle provided a light coating of ice on surfaces making traveling a bit treacherous.

Wider weather episode

A small band of primarily freezing rain and sleet developed across southwestern Minnesota then tracked eastward into western Wisconsin. The band of precipitation produced an hour or two of a light wintry mix resulting in minor ice and sleet accumulation. As a result, slick travel conditions existed during the morning commute. Most of the ice accumulation occurred across St. Croix to Pepin Counties through Chippewa and Eau Claire Counties.
