In the wake of the freezing rain/ice storm, a cold front crossed the region bringing a return to colder conditions as well as strong winds from the afternoon hours on December 29 through the evening hours on December 30, 2025. Widespread wind gusts on the order of 40 to 50 mph were observed with a peak wind gust of 60 mph at a mesonet site near Peru.
