The observer 3.6 miles west of Wilmington measured 5 inches of snow, as did another 2 miles west of town. To the north and south of town, 4.8 inches was measured by another observer and at the Wilmington NWS office, respectively.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance passed across the Ohio Valley during the early morning hours of the second. Ahead of this snow spread from west to east, beginning in the evening and ending shortly after daybreak.
