Heavy Snow in Finney, Kansas

Heavy Snow January 23, 2026 · Finney, Kansas

What the National Weather Service wrote

A public report of 5 inches of snowfall.

The wider storm

An upper-level jet provided ascent for multiple inches of snow to fall. A stronger and heavier band of snow set up across the northern zones produced 5-6 inches across Finney to Ellis county. The isentropic lift prevented the rest of the area seeing similarly high amounts. The higher amounts were assisted by higher SLR rates of 20:1.
